About the game
The Roottrees Are Dead asks you to reconstruct a family tree after a plane crash leaves an enormous inheritance to be redistributed. Set in 1998, the investigation uses photographs, books and articles to establish which people are blood relatives. Correct placements narrow the remaining possibilities, while later evidence becomes harder to track down. This listing is for the free browser original, first conceived for Global Game Jam 2023. A separate commercial remake expands the story and replaces the original release's AI-generated artwork with new illustrations.
